Presentation

The association "Tro Menez Are" was created in 1989 by the parents of the Diwan school of Commana in order to finance their school.
Thus, it organizes the "Tro Menez Are", a festive day of country walks.
In the organizers'mind, it above all aims at being a popular and family gathering, flexible enough to appeal to a wide public : ranging from the young to the elderly, and from the occasional walkers, sometimes even with reduced mobility, to the best trained hikers.

Each year, on Ascension Thursday, the Tro Menez Are lets you discover, off the beaten track, the beauty, the richness and the diversity of the landscapes and architectural heritage of the Monts d'Arrée.

For these purposes, it offers 4 great features:

• it is itinerant: it moves to a new commune each year. The proposed hikes and therefore the landscapes are never the same.
• each tour, taking private paths or going through private land parcels open just for the day, is unique and the hikers thus have the privilege to discover usually inaccessible places.
• each year, a topic linked to the hosting town is highlighted during the day.
• the tours are dotted with various animations (music, dance, theatre, craft market, visits) and supply points (water for free, sandwiches and hot or cold drinks for sale).

Each year, the walkers can choose among several tours in line with their inclinations and capabilities: 7, 10, 15, 20, 30 et 40 km.
One of them is specifically designed for strollers or persons with reduced mobility, with possible reservation of joëllettes.
Hiking trails marking is simple : 1 tour is represented by 1 color.

The Tro Menez Are ends with a Fest-Noz (dancing at night).

The event requires a year of preparation during which the hosting village and its surroundings are explored in order to decide of the hiking trails, and contacts are established with the officials of all the towns crossed, the owners of the private land parcels, the Parc Naturel Régional d'Armorique, artists and artisans, partners, firemen and the police...

The organizers of the Tro Menez Are benefit from the experience of past editions and rely on the good wills and on the expertise in hiking trails marking, clearing and hikes organization of local associations, among which :

• the Association D'aide au Développement Économique et Social (ADDES),
• the Comité Départemental de la Fédération Française de Randonnées Pédestres (FFRP),
• the various associations of the hosting town which provide a good proportion of the 250 to 300 volunteers necessary to the propoer conduct of the event...
